I have goosebumps all over my back. I notice aromas that I had never experienced before.

A strong feeling and make it happen
For a long time I had a strong feeling and a very sharp picture in my head of a new coffee cup. I had absolutely no know how in porcelain productions, just some sketches and a strong belief. Over a dinner I asked a family member who is an interior designer and architecht if she knew someone in her network who possible could help me out with my idea. Very soon the first contact was made with Risto Kokko Daxhund Ceramics in Kuopio Finland. I believed 600 km was a to far distance when working in a design project. For some resasons Risto and I seemed to understand each other very well and we only had to communicate by telephone and e-mail.
“Function first” was the most important issue when we designed the cup. It had to function as good as the best wine glasses in a sensory way. I also thought the cup design should be minimalistic. The egg and the rain drop/ snow drop gave me the core idea to the design of the cup.
Risto Kokko was the first one to test “Sommelier Cup 2,0 dl“, 2,0 dl is the recommended maximum volume coffee in the cup – (plimsoll mark), he was overwhelmed and elated. I had extremely high expectations and it had to work in my profession or when drinking my relaxed Sunday morning coffee.
The cup also transcended my expectations. Everyone who tested the cup got a new very positive coffee experiences. Tea also smells and tastes excellent in the cup. It was for the first time I really could smell fresh green tea in all nuances when using the cup.
The best test was to become Daniel Remheden, Love Coffee, sommelier, one of the worlds best baristas and coffee roaster. I met him at his roastery a summer day 2011. He was very focused and silent for a couple of minutes, swirling the cup, smelling and tasting. I thougth that he was to polite to criticize. But suddenly he earnestly said; -” I have goosebumps all over my back. I notice aromas that I had never expreienced before”. Daniel Remheden is responsible for the coffee part in the sommelier education at Gustibus Wine & Spririt Academy in Malmö. He also use the cup at his roastery.
